TATARI for Students

A saving and entrepreneurship development scheme for university and TVET students

TATARI for Students is designed for students and recent graduates from higher education institutes and TVETs who aspire to become entrepreneurs. The TATARI Programme provides trainings, mentoring, coaching and saving schemes aimed at enabling students to start their own small business.
TATARI is an initiative of the BRIDGES Programme. BRIDGES is a job-creation and job-support programme that is part of the Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works strategy implemented by First Consult. The Programme envisages supporting the creation of jobs and enterprises.
Becoming a member of TATARI will help students’ future career paths. It helps aspiring entrepreneurs acquire the required skills, attitudes, and capital to start their own businesses by unleashing their potential for self-employment and job creation. The programme has saving, business development services (BDS) support and financial support from BRIDGES. It also facilitates for entrepreneurs to find funding for their start-ups from financial institutions of up to 5 times the saved plus matched amount.
  • Students who are enrolled in higher institutions and TVETs, are a maximum of 2 years away from graduating or graduated in the past 2 years.
  • Students who have a strong interest in starting their own business.
  • Students who are committed to opening an account and making regular saving deposits of 300 Birr/month.
  • Students who are willing to attend training and mentoring sessions.
Register and become a member of TATARI Open a saving account in one of the partner financial institutions Attend all trainings and related services
It takes a minimum of 6 months
TATARI members get financial support for their enterprise after they:
  • Attend all trainings and services provided by the programme
  • Develop bankable business plan
  • Make regular savings of 300 Birr/month continuously for at least 6 months
